Wa East: More than 20 communities cut off from District Capital More than twenty communities in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region have been cut off from the districtcapital, Funsi, due to heavy rains. One of the major roads linking Yala number one and two, Kulun and some communities in the district and the region have been completely washed away, creating deep gullies on the road. Consequently, motorists and other road users cannot have access to the District Assembly and the Funsi market. The DCE for Wa East, Abdul Karim Abudu said if the road is not worked on immediately it will have a devastating effect on the development of the district. He said the assembly will lose revenue because no vehicle from the affected area can go to Funsi especially on market days. The DCE said medical supplies to some CHPS compounds located in the area will also be affected. Mr Karim Abudu therefore appealed to government to come to the aid of the assembly before the situation gets out of hand. GBC
