President Mahama charges new ambassadors to Saudi Arabia and Japan to attract investment into Ghana

President John Mahama has presented scrolls of appointment to two new Ambassadors to Saudi Arabia and Japan. 

They are Alhaji Saeed Sinare for Saudi Arabia and Sylvester Parker-Allotey for Japan. 

The two have had accomplished Diplomatic and Foreign Service careers. 

President Mahama asked them to work hard to attract trade and investment into the country. 

He particularly urged Mr Parker-Allotey, who goes to Japan, to follow up on the Yen loan Portfolio, which has been restored to Ghana. 

The Yen loan facility has been slated for the reconstruction of the Adomi Bridge. 

In a related development, four envoys from Palestine, Egypt, Japan and the European Union have presented their letters of credence to President Mahama as they start their duty tours. 

In an interaction with the EU representative in Ghana William Hanna, President Mahama called for support in the country's fishing sector. 

Ghana faces a ban in the export of fish to the EU market due to reports of the use of chemicals in the harvesting and preservation of fishes in Ghanaian waters. 

President Mahama also solicited the EU's effort in restoring the Multi-donor budgetary support which has been suspended. 

He said Ghana has subscribed to the three year IMF programme to restore macroeconomic stability. 

As Chair of ECOWAS, President Mahama made a case for Guinea Bissau, which has recently returned to democratic rule after years of civil war. 

He said ECOWAS has worked to restore peace in that country, and what is needed now is financial support. 

President Mahama called for a donor roundtable to raise funds for that country's development.
