Ghana plans to reduce congestion in Prisons

The Minister for the Interior, Mark Woyongo has called for the introduction of non-custodial sentencing to reduce congestion in the country’s prisons. 

Speaking at the inauguration of a Transformational Capacity Building Project by the British High commission at the Nsawam Prisons, Mr Woyongo described as unacceptable, long sentences handed out to perpetrators for petty offences.
