Sudan decline to host AFCON 2015 for fear of Ebola

Sudan has officially rejected hosting the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, slated for early next year despite receiving approval to substitute for primary host Morocco, which has recently expressed reservations over its role due to the deadly Ebola outbreak.

Sudan's Health Minister, Bahar Idris Abu Garada stressed that hosting the African tournament could expose the Country to the Ebola virus.

He said this is a risk that the country should not take because the fear of Ebola was the motive behind the Morocco's refusal to host the tournament as scheduled.

Sudan had recently received a preliminary agreement from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approving it as a substitute for Morocco which is CAF demanding the postponement of the tournament to a later date.

CAF has rejected Morocco's request.
