Former NSS boss remanded again

An Accra Circuit Court has for the second time, remanded the former Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Alhaji Alhassan Mohammed Imoro in custody. 

The court presided over by Francis Obiri, upheld the prosecution's prayer to remand the accused person to enable further investigations into the massive financial malfeasance in the operations of the scheme. 

The court obliged the prosecution and remanded Alhaji Imoro in custody to re-appear on the 3rd of next month. 

It will at its next sitting take a definite decision regarding the bail application advanced by counsel for Alhaji Imoro. 

Following investigations conducted by the BNI, 22,612 ghost names were allegedly generated at the Headquarters of the National Service Scheme. 

This is said to have resulted in the loss of seven point-nine million cedis in July alone.

Following the revelation, Alhaji Imoro was dragged to court for allegedly stealing millions of cedis belonging to the state.

According to the prosecution, Alhaji Imoro from the month of September 2013 to July this year stole GH¢ 86.9 million from state coffers.

He has however denied the offense.
