APNA entreats Gov’t streamline operations of the Petroleum Revenue Management Act


The African Parliamentarians’ Network Against Corruption APNAC, has entreated Government to take immediate steps to lay before Parliament the relevant regulations that will streamline the operations of the Petroleum Revenue Management Act, PRMA 2011.

The Network says it is unacceptable that for almost four years after the promulgation of the Act, the required regulation to back the operation of the law is yet to be introduced.

The Network also called for a comprehensive review of the PRMA to make it responsive to the current challenges and ensure value for money.

These were stated at a News Conference in Accra.

It was addressed by the Vice President of the Network, Emmanuel Kwasi Bandua.

Radio Ghana’s correspondent Dominic Hlordzi reports that the African Parliamentarians’ Network Against Corruption, APNAC said after careful examination of the petroleum landscape in the country, it has realised that some pertinent issues in the sector needs to be addressed to ensure that Ghanaians derived maximum benefit from the oil revenues.

The Network raised five main areas government needs to take immediate action on to strengthen the petroleum sector against acts of corruption.

The Vice President of the Network, Emmanuel Kwasi Bandua enumerated the issues government needs to consider.

The Network proposed specific areas in the petroleum revenue management act that need to be amended to improve the legal framework relating to the collection allocation and management of petroleum revenues for the benefit of the people.
