Joice Mujuru too simplistic to lead Zimbabwe – Mugabe

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has reportedly described Vice President Joyce Mujuru as too simplistic and unprincipled to lead Zimbabwe.

President Mugabe, who for the first time accused Mrs. Mujuru of plotting to unseat him, said he was aware of the plot for a very long time.

According to the state media, President Mugabe said Mrs Mujuru was so naive in her plot, which included working with the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).

President Mugabe made the remarks while addressing the military chiefs and war veterans at the Zanu-PF party headquarters before the start of a congress next week.

President Mugabe is poised to consolidate his grip on power by appointing a new set of loyalists, including his wife Grace.

Grace Mugabe is set to take over as the head of the Zanu-PF party's women's league at the conference.
