Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development to survey sites that distribute pre-mix fuel

The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Sherry Ayitey says a consultant has been appointed to do a survey on all sites that distribute premix.

The move is to deal with the persistent challenge of premix fuel with regard to the continuous increase in price which in the long run affects the activities of fishermen.

Madam Ayitey said discussions are ongoing with the Ministry of Energy and Finance to set resources aside to pay for production.

Madam Ayitey noted that subsidies on premix are well intended and taking it off may not be possible. This is because the subsidies help in community development.

She also spoke on ways to deal with middle men engaged in premix fuel distribution.
