Minister Lauds Modest Performance Of Agriculture Sector Despite Poor Rain Pattern The Minister of Agriculture, Fiifi Kwetey, says the Agriculture Sector since 2013 has performed well. Speaking to Radio Ghana ahead of Farmers Day on Friday, Mr Kwetey said the cereals, tubers and poultry industry have been assisted to deliver. He said although the rainfall pattern in the year has been erratic, government's strategic irrigation programmes served a good purpose and so yields are not that bad. On processing of Agriculture products, Mr Kwetey said the private sector must rise to the occasion to ensure that public-private partnership works to the growth of Ghanaians especially as government continues to promote the consumption of made in Ghana goods. He said the provision of fertilizer should also not be seen as the sole responsibility of government. Individual farmers and businessmen as well as Ghanaian scientists should come on board to produce affordable fertilizer for the farmers. He also said government would not abandon its role of supporting farmers with fertilizers and other inputs to produce more for consumption and export. GBC
