Government urged to provide economic opportunities for women

Even though statistics from the Ghana Living Standards Survey indicates a fall in poverty level in Ghana, women still remain the largest group among the poor, experiencing the multidimensional nature of poverty.

This is as a result of insufficient economic opportunities, lack of access to basic essential services and harsh economic and social inequalities in society.

Speaking at an end of Year Review of the Status of Women in Ghana, Convener of the Women's Manifesto Coalition, Hamida Harrison said government must put concrete measures in place to ensure that there is a level playing field for both men and women.
