Gov’t embarks on series of projects to improve water supply nationwide


Ghana currently has a water deficit of 257 million gallons. Out of the number Greater Accra alone has more than half of the national deficit because of its population.

Government however, continues to embark on a series of projects both in the rural and urban communities to bridge the gap.

One of such projects is a fifty six point five million dollar project that has been completed to make water available to about two hundred and 50 thousand people living in areas such as Michel Camp, Afienya and Frafraha.

The Minister for Water Resources Works and Housing, Alhaji Collins Dauda made these remarks when he appeared on the Meet-The-Press series in Accra.

The Minister said a one hundred and 80 million dollar loan has been sourced from the US Exim Bank for the procurement of equipment for the rehabilitation of obsolete water supply systems nationwide.

This he believes will improve water supply by eighty two percent.
