Fmr Ghanaian Commander Sets Record Straight In Killing Of Samuel Doe

A former Ghanaian Army Commander, General Arnold Quainoo has denied suggestions that his acts and omissions contributed to the torture and killing of late Liberian President, Samuel Doe in 1990.

He said President Doe was architect of his own doom as he refused instructions to leave Liberia to an undisclosed country and later brought back when the civil unrest died down.

General Arnold Quainoo, popularly known as Buffalo Soldier was Commander of a four thousand man strong ECOWAS Monitoring Group, ECOMOG sent to Liberia to maintain the peace during that country's civil war. 

He was setting the records straight at the launch in Accra of a book written by Ghana's longest serving Attorney General and Foreign Minister, Dr Obed Yao Asamoah.

The 764 page book is titled "The Political History of Ghana (1950-2013) the experience of a non-Conformist".
