NDC Elects NADMO boss Kofi Portuphy as its new National Chairman

The National Democratic Congress NDC has elected the NADMO boss Kofi Portuphy as its new chairman. 

Mr.Portuphy beat the incumbent, Dr. Kwabena Adjei, by polling 2,457 out of the total votes cast. 

Former Trade Minister, Dan Abodakpi came in second, securing 610 votes.

Former Attorney-General, Betty Mould Iddrisu, Football Administrator, Mr. Harry Zakour, Former Women’ Organiser, Anita Desooso, Former Local Government Minister, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Former Education Minister Lee Ocran and Former Ambassador to Egypt, Alhaji Said Sinare, all picked the six Vice-Chairmanship slots.

Mr. Kofi Adams, beat the incumbent National Organiser, Yaw Boateng Gyan.

General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia who was widely tipped before the vote to win, retained his position. He polled 2,685 votes to beat his only challenger, Abdullah Ishaq Farrakhan who polled 606 votes.

Former Communications Director Koku Anyidoho grabbed one of two Deputy General Secretary Slots. He was one of the six persons vying for the slots available. Former Adenta MP, Kojo Adu-Asare failed to unseat incumbent George Lawson, picked up the final ticket.


Speaking moments after the party’s newly constituted administration was sworn into office at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Mr Portuphy said steps to unite the party front begins immediately and with the support of all, the party would retain power come 2016. 


“We will endeavour from today to bring all of us on the path of unity. We shall unite our party and make sure that we work as a team towards 2016, and that 2016 is our goal,” 

Mr. Portuphy assured party members of the new administration’s commitment and availability at all times, describing the outcome of the congress as a victory for the entire party.

“I want to assure all of you that we shall be available day and night, rain or shine, fire, whatever storm, we’ll make sure that we are available and that you don’t need lamps to look for us in the night.
 
“Comrades and friends, I would like to emphasise that today is victory for NDC, victory for all of us and I can assure you that together we will deliver with your support. Thank you very much.” He said
