Diabetes ranked top 10 cases of deaths in Ghana


Top ten cases of deaths in health facilities has been attributed to diabetes and related diseases.

Head of Institutional Public Health at the Ridge Hospital, Dr. Farida Abdulai says majority of patients at the Out Patient Department, OPD, normally report with communicable diseases and by the time they are diagnosed of diabetes it may be too late.

In an interview with Radio Ghana, Dr. Abdulai said the major causes of diabetes are the excessive intake of junk foods.

She called on the public to desist from eating such foods to reduce mortality rate.
