NMC calls for sensitivity in coverage and analysis of religious issues

The National Media Commission has appealed to the media, particularly editors, radio and television presenters and talk show hosts to exercise circumspection and sensitivity in the coverage and analysis of matters regarding religion. 

In a statement, the NMC noted with concern the tone of coverage and discussions regarding particularly the practice of religion in educational institutions.  

The Commission said the relative peace, harmony and stability Ghana has enjoyed over the past fifty eight years has been built upon the collective tolerance of the forebears. 

The current generation therefore owes it to itself and future ones to preserve the harmony and cordial relations amongst religions and peoples.  

The statement called for the debate and discussions to be held without rancour and bitterness since any deviation from this can be a recipe for mayhem.
