Turkey to support Rural LPG Promotion Program

	
The Turkey Ambassador to Ghana Ms Nersin Bayazit has pledged her country’s willingness to support the ongoing rural LPG Promotion program which aims at making LPG cylinders and cook stoves available to many Ghanaians especially rural folks. 

Ambassador Bayazit made the pledge when she paid a courtesy call on Minister for Petroleum Dr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Bauh to discuss issues of mutual interest to both countries and ways to their improve relations.

She urged the Minister to lead Ghana’s campaign and support the International Energy Charter to be adopted at the upcoming international energy summit in May this year. 

Dr. Bauh for his part commended Turkey government for their collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening relations with Ghana especially in the petroleum and the power sectors.

He further called for a stronger collaboration between the two countries as Ghana seeks to become a hub for power generation in the West African sub region.
 
The Petroleum Minister also welcomed Turkey’s willingness to support the rural LPG promotion program saying apart from helping reduce the pressure on conventional sources of fuel for domestic use and curb depleting of the country‘s forest reserves, it will also indirectly empower women in rural areas who hitherto the program would have walked miles in search of firewood and charcoal to go to school and improve their standard of living.
