The Daily Graphic is surprised that the chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr Afari-Gyan told parliament that he was misled into believing that he could open and close nominations before the maturity of CI 85. The Paper says it is mind-boggling that the EC Chair, who has conducted countless elections in the country, could be misled to cause such a disaster in organising the District Assembly elections. The Paper adds that such public wastage and the electoral mess could have been avoided if the EC had learnt to listen to the pieces of advice that came its way when it opened nominations. The Daily Graphic says the EC should learn from the bitter lesson and be prudent in future dealings.

The Ghanaian Times is disturbed at the rate of lawlessness amongst politicians, community leaders and pastors. The Paper says ordinary people insult freely, a practice which is unacceptable. The Paper stresses that the country needs peace to keep on moving. The Times calls for dialogue to resolve differences to enable Ghana move into the future as on country with one people and a common destiny.
