President Mahama in Nigeria to confer  with President Jonathan ahead of that country's elections

President John Mahama has arrived in Nigeria to hold talks with President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of that country's elections on 28th of this month.  

Addressing the Media after talks with Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja, Nigeria President John Mahama expressed ECOWAS' solidarity to Nigeria as it goes to the Polls this weekend.

He said Nigeria is a significant part of the sub-region and so its Peace and Security can not be taken for granted. 

President Mahama is on a Pre -election visit in his capacity as ECOWAS Chair. 

Words of encouragement to face the upcoming elections in Fairness and Transparency is the message ECOWAS Chair President Mahama carried, to his Nigerian counterpart Goodluck Jonathan and indeed the entire country. 

Aside from Nigeria,five other countries in the sub-region will go to the polls this year. 

President Mahama, said ECOWAS expects nothing short of a Free,Fair and Transparent Elections. 

According to him,that is the only way to express how democratized Nigeria is. He said the sub-regional body is behind Nigeria.

President Mahama,said ECOWAS and the International community will be monitoring events and do not look forward to any electoral discrepancies. 

He also charged Nigeria's Electoral Commission to ensure the electoral exercise is done in a free and fair manner
                                       President Mahama, also met with officials of INEC, Nigeria's electoral commisssion to discuss their preparations so far.
