Mineral Royalty Payment Is Unconstitutional - Civil Society The Coordinator of the Civil Society Platform on Oil and Gas, Dr Steve Manteaw says the practice of returning ten percent of royalties to mining communities by government is unconstitutional because it is not backed by any law. Speaking to Radio Ghana at Elmina after a workshop on the review of the 2012-2013 Ghana Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative on Oil and Gas organized by IFEJ in collaboration with GIZ, Dr. Manteaw said the practice undermines the right of parliament in exercising its watchdog role over the expenditure of the executive. He said he will soon go to the Supreme Court to seek interpretation of the law on that particular disbursement. GBC
