Nigerians In Ghana Commend President-Elect Buhari And President Goodluck Jonathan For Peaceful And Orderly Elections

The Executive President of All Nigerian Community in Ghana, Moses Owharo has lauded the President elect of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari and the defeated incumbent Goodluck Jonathan for ensuring peaceful and orderly elections. 

He said the quick acceptance of defeat by Mr Jonathan is a sign of maturity and this in his view will help consolidate democracy in Nigeria. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr Owharo called on African leaders to emulate the exemplary character exhibited by Mr Jonathan. 

He also called on Nigerians to resort to peaceful means of resolving their grievances by using the Courts. 

Meanwhile, the winner of Nigeria's presidential poll, Gen Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC has hailed his victory as a vote for change which proves that the nation has embraced democracy. 

Gen Buhari also praised outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan as a worthy opponent who peacefully relinquished power. 

Gen Buhari beat Mr Jonathan by 15.4 million votes to 12.9 million thereby making him the first opposition candidate to win a presidential election. 

Observers have generally praised the election, though there have been allegations of fraud.

Following the victory of General Muhamadu Buhari as President elect of Nigeria, our reporter Godwin Aloriweh visited some Nigerian communities in Ghana to find out how they feel about the just ended elections.

Most of them said they hope General Buhari will overcome the Boko Haram insurgency and also create jobs for the youth.
