Gabon selected to host 2017 Africa Cup of Nations

Gabon has been chosen to host the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.  The 2012 co-hosts won a vote by CAF'S Executive committee in Cairo yesterday ahead of Algeria and Ghana.

It will be the second time Gabon will be hosting the Football tournament, having previously hosted with Equatorial Guinea.

Original hosts Libya withdrew   from staging the tournament last year because of a civil war.  Gabon will use four venues for the 16-team tournament, which will be played in January and February.

Gabon Football Federation officials said the venues will be ready in fourteen months.
