Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District under curfew

Calm has returned to Bunkpurugu in the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District of the Northern region following renewed chieftaincy conflict there last night which led to the death of two people and the destruction of a dozen of houses. 

The area has been under curfew as a result of the chieftaincy conflict and a land dispute between Kokombas and Bimobas.  

Last night's incident is a major blow to efforts to maintain peace and order in the district. 

The Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Mohammed Muniru  Limuna tells Bubu Klinogo that the Regional Security Council will convene an emergency meeting to review the security situation in the area.
