Health Minister designate vetted The Health Minister designate Alexander Segbefia says he will liaise with stakeholders in the health sector to take a bold look at the status of the National Health Insurance Scheme and ensure that the ills bedeviling the scheme are addressed. He noted that the problems will be fixed if given the nod. Mr. Segbefia stated this when he appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament. He said the Health insurance scheme is a victim of its own success and all efforts will be made to ensure that it continues to assist Ghanaians to have access to quality healthcare. On the agitation by health workers over conditions of service, the Health Minister Nominee pledged to work with other sector ministries to curtail the level of labor agitation in the health service. Mr. Segbefia spoke about the utilization of the voluntary ten percent pay cut by Ministers for the construction of CHIPS Compounds and said he will examine the status of the Fund and ensure that the CHIPS compounds are constructed to extend health care to the door steps of the citizenry.
