Television crew 'killed by Islamic State in Libya'

Five members of a Libyan television crew were found dead with their throats slit in the Eastern part of the country. 

Islamic State IS militants are suspected of carrying out the killings. 

A military official, Faraj al-Barassi confirmed the deaths of the reporters, who had been missing since last August.

The reporters disappeared after leaving the Eastern city of Tobruk, where the elected parliament meets, to travel to Benghazi.

Their journey took them through the Islamist militant stronghold of Derna. 

The military official said militants loyal to IS were responsible for the killings.  

Their bodies were discovered outside the city of Bayda, which is the temporary home of Libya's internationally-recognized government. 

It is believed the reporters - four Libyans and an Egyptian - had been working for the Barqa TV network, which supports federalism for Eastern Libya.
