Environmental experts advocate immediate closure of fuel stations in residential areas The Ghana Institute of Safety and Environmental Professionals is calling for the immediate closure of all fuel stations located in residential areas and non-authorised locations. They want enforcement agencies to be up and doing and stop the issuance of permits for the construction of new fuel stations at unauthorised places. The General Secretary of the Institute, Bright Bansah, in an interview with Gloria Anderson, said the over-concentration of fuel stations in residential areas is becoming worrying. He said the Institute will start an intensive campaign for the closure of all such fuel stations. Recent gas explosions in the country have drawn attention to the need to look at the construction and issuance of permits for fuel stations. Many of these stations are located in residential areas which poses risk to life and property. GBC
