Hundreds of Malawians leave South Africa after attacks

More than six hundred Malawi citizens have left South Africa for their home country after refusing to reintegrate into the local communities, three weeks after xenophobic attacks broke out in the city of Durban.

Deputy Consul at Malawi's consulate general, George Chilonga, said 33 buses from the three camps of Isipingo, Chatsworth and Phoenix departed for Blantyre, Malawi yesterday.

Authorities say more than one thousand 500 Malawians have already gone home.
