Ban on drumming and noise making in Tema Traditional area

The annual three week ban on drumming and noise making that precedes the Homowo celebrations in the Tema Traditional Area takes effect from Friday the 8th to the 29th of May.

The Tema Traditional Council, which announced this at a press briefing in Tema Manhean, appealed to the citizenry, Faith Based Organizations and bar operators to respect the ban. 

The Council also asked the public to be mindful of groups and persons who will  extort money from them to report to the Traditional Council.

The Tema Traditional Council comprises Tema Newtown, all the 23 Communities within the Tema Township, as well as Ashaiman and Adigɔŋ. 

The rest are Adjei Kojo, Klangon, Kubekro, Saasabi, Sakumono and Zenu. Addressing the Media, the Tema Maŋtsɛ Osɔŋaa, Nii Dr. Adjei Kraku, called on churches operating within his jurisdiction to respect the ban on noise making and drumming in order to avoid confrontation with the traditional authorities.

 He therefore underscored the need for all to respect the traditions of the land to  ensure peaceful co-existence.

He reiterated that Faith Based Organizations should restrain their followers from making inflammatory and derogatory remarks about other persons’ beliefs. He spoke Ga.

 The Shippi added that people who flout the ban  will be handed over to the traditional authorities for the appropriate punitive actions to be taken against them.
