Rev. Amey urges Church as faith institution to focus on its core mandate of discipleship

The core mandate of discipleship Synod Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Reverend Emmanuel Adjei Amey, has urged the Church as a faith institution to focus on its core mandate of discipleship by inspiring hope and unity required of it in the context of the great commission. 

He described as unfortunate the conduct of some Church leaders whose utterances and inactions generate tension and polarize society. 

Rev. Amey was speaking at Kasoa near Accra at an induction service for newly elected executive officers of the E.P Church West Volta Presbytery Men’s Fellowship. 

The seven-member newly inducted executive has Dr. Kwaku Mensah Ganu, a Development Policy Analyst and Consultant as President. 

Rev. Amey underscored the need for Christian leaders to demonstrate high sense of integrity, maturity and neutrality on sensitive national issues and not to allow themselves to be swayed into acts that could damage their reputation. 

He said a good Christian leader must act like a good shepherd to win the confidence and trust of his followers. 

The Men’s Desk Programme Officer of the E.P Church, Rev. Geoffrey Fred Amegbe reminded the leadership of the Men’s Fellowship to inspire the desired growth of the Fellowship and lead a crusade against social vices. 

Dr. Ganu, on behalf of his colleagues pledged the support of the Fellowship saying they will assist the Church in realizing its developmental goals.
