Second Lady assists three hospitals

The second Lady, Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur has called on corporate organisations and philanthropists to assist deprive communities that fall under their areas of operations, especially in health related issues.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur made the call when she donated quantity of medical equipment and educational materials valued at millions of cedis to three hospitals and a school in the Western Region.

They are Juaboso Government Hospital, Bibianai Government Hospital, Sefwi Wiaso Municipal hospital and the Methodist Primary School at Dwinase in the Sefwi Wiaso Municipality.

She was accompanied by Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Regional Minister and the Deputy Regional Minister, Mr Kow Gyan.

Mrs Amissah Arthur called on the hospital administrators and staff to take very good care of the equipment in order to prolong their lifespan.

She commended the hospital management and staff for the good job that they are doing and encouraged them to do more to ensure quality healthcare for the country especially managing childhood illnesses and sanitation issues.

She said the objective for the donation was to help in her own small way by putting smiles on the faces of the children, adding that she has taken it upon herself to help raise awareness about the critical maternal issues in the country, especially maternal health for children and their mothers.

Mrs Amissah Arthur took the opportunity to educate women on the need to seek early maternal health care to avoid complications which would lead to deaths and other factors associated with it.

Mrs Amissah Arthur presented library books and a set of computers and two laptop computers to the Methodist Primary school at Dwinase in Sefwi Wiaso Municipality.  

She called on the head master and teachers of the school to help the children make good use the books by reading regularly in order to enhance their academic performance.
