Government renews Alavanyo/Nkonya curfew

 

The Minister of the Interior, Mark Woyongo has on the advice of the Volta Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument renewed the Curfew hours imposed on Alavanyo and Nkonya Townships.

The period is from 6:00pm to 6:00am effective Friday August, 28.

In view of the District Level Elections, the Curfew hours for only Tuesday, September 1 and would be observed from 7:00pm to 6:00am.

Mr Mark Woyongo, the Minister of the Interior in a statement, expressed his appreciation to the chiefs, elders opinion leaders, the youth and people of the area for their efforts in ensuring peace in the area.

He urged them to use the established mechanisms for the resolution of all their conflicts and disputes.

“Government will like to reiterate that, there is a ban on all persons in the two towns and their environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons, and any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,, the statement read.
