Rosemary Gaisie [Radio News]

Born to the late Mr. Gordon Oduro Gaisie and Mrs Wilhemina Ansah-Abrokwah, a health professional on May 9, Rosemary Gaisie began her basic education at quite an early age in the Brong Ahafo Region up to the secondary level. Having acquired an Ordinary Level School Certificate at Sacred Heart Secondary School at Nsoatre at age 14, Rosemary pursued an Advanced level Course at Mfantsiman Girls’ Secondary School at Saltpond in the Central Region.

Rosemary did her first national service at an unusual age of 17, at the Brong Ahafo Regional office of Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) in Sunyani. She later enrolled at the Ashanti Regional Catholic Educational Unit of the Ghana Education Service as an untrained teacher and was posted to Abrense R/C Primary in the Amansie West District. She taught from 1998 until she gained admission to the Ghana Institute of Journalism for a Diploma and later Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies.

Rosemary known in private life as Afia Mroba Gyasiwaa with Ashanti/ Fante descent, is an Editor with GBC Radio news in Accra.  Her stint with the state broadcaster dates back from school in 2002 at the Ghana Institute of Journalism. 

She began serving the Corporation as an intern in the GTV newsroom, then later as national service personnel at the Radio Outside Broadcast and Sports department.  She was also a guest artiste at the Sports department, a volunteer reporter at Radio News room until finally she became a staff of GBC.  Her experience in the GBC (BH3) therefore cuts across television, radio, outside broadcast and sports reporting. 

Rosemary’s professional goal is to use the qualifications and experience gained locally and internationally as a communicator  to support any global, continental, regional or national course  on human and social development particularly in marginalized communities focusing on children, women, the disabled, older persons, sports and the environment.
The ambitious young woman wishes among other things to faithfully serve her creator through humanity unto her life’s end, to develop expertise in local and international communication, to use her profession to expose and correct ills in society and be a mouth piece for the less privileged and the vulnerable. 

She also aspires for greater heights in every endeavour and to live a fulfilled life.

Rosemary’s local model is Mrs Gifty Affenyi-Dadzie, Prayer Director of Women’s Aglow-Ghana, former President of the Ghana Journalists Association and former member of Council of State, whose care for the needy and vulnerable in society, dedication to duty, special love for prayer and general friendliness paved the way for her love for the journalism profession.

As the first of four siblings, Rosemary has grown to live by these principles: respect, hard work and discipline. 
The things Rosemary loves doing in her life are: making true friends, sharing ideas and jokes, listening to and reading inspirational /motivational speeches and literature, using the internet for research and leisure, group excursion and adventure. 

Rosemary has the following among others, as her verifiable personal attributes: goal-driven, organized, adaptable to new environments, analytical, cost effective, intuitive, culturally and morally sensitive, effective team player and committed to work. 
Rosemary is affiliated to the Ghana Journalists Association GJA, Sports Writers Association of Ghana SWAG, Catholic Association of Media Practitioners CAMP-G Ghana, and The Nederland Fellowship Programme.
