Effective strategies advocated to curb burns related death Burns related deaths is said to be on the increase and continues to be a major public health problem. However eighty percent of burn accidents and injuries could be prevented if the necessary burn prevention strategies and policies are put in place. The Director of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Center, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Dr Opoku-Ware Ampomah made this assessment at a Burns Prevention and Awareness Workshop to commemorate the first anniversary of the June 3 disaster in Accra. He said the authorities should take a critical look at the chain of events that led to the disaster a year ago as it will help device preventive mechanisms towards a future occurrence. GBC
