MCE urges journalist to be circumspect in their reportage

The Municipal Chief Executive for Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, Philip Aboore, has appealed to media personnel to be circumspect in their reportage especially during this election year. 

He advised them to use their medium to promote peace and tranquillity in the society instead of highlighting on issues that could endanger the peace the country is enjoying. 

Mr. Aboore made the appeal when he met the various media houses in the Bolgatanga municipality.  

He urged journalists to cross check their facts to prevent their medium being used for politics of insults and lies.
 
Mr. Aboore cautioned them to always act as gate keepers and not to allow people to use them to run down others they may not agree with. 

He challenged the media to use their medium to educate the public, especially on environmental issues, talk about what will promote peace instead of disunity. 

He asked the journalist to be mindful when writing stories about the Bolgatanga chieftaincy dispute since the case is at the law court. 

The MCE urged the media to talk about positive things instead of highlighting negative issues that could cause fear and panic among the people.  

He told the various media houses to see issues concerning security as a shared responsibility. 

Mr. Aboore reminded the media personnel of their importance to the country and should strive to help maintain the peace.
