Deputy Minister seeks amendment to mining law

The Deputy Minister of Mines and Natural Resources, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called for some laws on mining to be amended to suit current and modern trends. 

He said the amendments will come with stiffer punishments to serve as a deterrent to other illegal operators. 

He also called on the authorities who are in charge of issuing permits to do proper checks to help deal with the issue of encroachment.
