Ghana Gas Company procures new overhead compressor 

The Ghana National Gas Company is putting in place systems that will ensure continuous uninterrupted flow of Gas to VRA`s thermal plants in Takoradi.  

In this regard the Company has procured a new overhead compressor which will be installed in the coming month.  

The Chief Executive of Ghana Gas, Dr. George Sipah Yankey who disclosed at a media encounter at Atuabo praised the engineers and workers for their commitment and dedication to duty.

Industry practice demands that after every four thousand hour of operations the Gas processing plant should be shut down for maintenance.  

The Gas processing plant at Atuabo was shut down on the first of September for its third maintenance schedule following 12 thousand owns of operators.  

In view of the country`s power needs and the reliance on cheap Gas from Atuabo to generate power to feed the national Grid Management of Ghana Gas has procured a second overhead compressor to ensure that the plant continues pumping Gas even during its routine maintenance.  

The Chief Executive of Ghana Gas who announced this in an address to the press after an interaction with engineers at the site after the completion of the maintenance work and resumption of Gas flow to Aboadze noted the hand work and dedication of the staff.  

The procurement of the new compressor which will be installed in the coming month he said is to ensure that the plant continues to supply Gas to the thermal plants at Aboadze in Takoradi for continuous power production.

Dr. George Sipah Yankey praised the work force who are mostly Ghana engineers for their commitment and dedication to duty and urged them to work hard to ensure that this investment of the tax payer ensures to the benefit of all.

The third maintenance work which was scheduled to be completed in ten days was done in five days due to the experience and expertise acquired during the first and second phases by the Ghanaian engineers.
