Avoid 'skirt and blouse' voting - VEEP tells NDC

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has appealed to the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to put the mistakes the party made in its parliamentary primaries and rally behind those elected. 

He cautioned against voting skirt and blouse as it is alien to the NDC.

Addressing a well-attended rally of the NDC at the Ashiaman Mandela Park in Greater Accra Region, Vice President Amissah-Arthur cautioned the supporters against the phenomenon, saying they may live to regret that mistake.

A group of NDC motorcycle riders led the Vice President’s convoy from the Ashiaman overhead through the motorway roundabout to the Mandela Park. 

The tumultuous reception was deafening and he could not help but to dance and wave at the crowd on the podium. 

Speaker after speaker emphasised the need for unity, door-to-door campaign and try as much as possible to vote the right to avoid rejected ballots. 

Vice President Amissah-Arthur said the NDC has learnt its lessons from the mistakes that occurred when the party opened the election of presidential and parliamentary candidates to every eligible member of the party. 

He said in spite of the mistakes, the 275 parliamentary candidates are the party’s representatives for the parliamentary election in December. 

Therefore, as they vote for them, they should also vote massively for President Mahama.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur charged the Greater Accra Regional NDC Campaign Taskforce, the Regional and Constituency executives to work together to increase the 52% the party obtained in 2012.

This is because, it is one of the four swing regions with the highest voter population. 

The National Organiser and 2016 Campaign Co-ordinator, Kofi Adams, said this year’s presidential election will also be about experience. 

He urged Ghanaians to renew the mandate of President Mahama to enable him to continue with the agenda of ‘Changing Lives and Transforming Ghana’. 

The Deputy Majority Leader and MP for Ashaiman, Alfred Agbesi said the NDC does not need just majority seats in Parliament but an absolute majority.

He therefore urged the supporters to vote massively for President Mahama and all the parliamentary candidates.  

Vice President Amissah-Arthur introduced the nine parliamentary candidates from the eastern part of the Greater Accra Region to the supporters.
