Statistics show low contraceptive usage in Ghana Available statistics indicate that Ghana is far from achieving its target for contraceptive use. Though 99 percent of the population knows about traditional and modern methods of birth control, only 22 percent use it. In view of the current statistics, it has become imperative to adopt measures to increase contraceptive use. With the population expected to hit 60 million by 2050, experts envisage a strain on the economic growth of the country. These came up at the launch of National Family Planning Week in Accra.
