CODEO to deploy about 8,000 observers to monitor elections

The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers, CODEO, is to deploy about 8,000 observers to all 275 constituencies December 7 to monitor the conduct of the elections. 

CODEO has also hinted it will embark on parallel vote tabulation to make precise estimates of the presidential polls. 

At a pre-election news conference jointly addressed by Justice VCRAC Crabbe and Prof Miranda Greenstreet, CODEO called on presidential candidates and their supporters to do everything within their means to maintain peace throughout the elections and its aftermath. 

A Co-chair of CODEO Prof Miranda Greenstreet said staff of CODEO have been properly trained and will be neutral throughout the exercise. 

She added that CODEO will cooperate with all other election observers and the Electoral Commission to ensure that the elections are peacefully conducted. 

Another Co-chair Justice VCRAC Crabbe called on all presidential candidates and their supporters to desist from things that will mar the beautiful of the polls. 

He appealed to all Ghanaians to contribute in making the elections credible to further deepened the democratic process and consolidate Ghana's reputation as the beacon of hope in the sub region.
