Elections 2016: Long Queues Form In Accra As Many Voters Turn Out To Vote

Polls have opened across the country as long queues of voters casting their ballot in the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary elections stretch. 

Thousands queued as early as 2 am, hours before polls were due to open, to vote in these highly anticipated elections. 

Some 15,703,890 registered voters are expected to cast their ballot at about 29,000 polling stations to elect a president and 275 Members of Parliament. 

Some are using sticks, chairs and stones to claim places in queues. 

The building up of long early in the morning shows people have been queuing overnight to cast their vote in Accra and also indication of a likely high voter turnout.
