Voting Ends In Presidential And Parliamentary Elections Across The Country

Voting in Ghana has ended in about 29,000 polling stations across the country. 15,712,449 voters were expected to cast their ballots to elect the 7th  President for the fourth Republic and 275 Parliamentarians.  

Seven Presidential candidates contested the election. They were CPP's Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings  of the NDP, NDC's John Mahama, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom of the PPP, Nana Akuffo Addo of NPP, Dr. Edward Mahama of the PNC and Independent candidate 
Jacob Osei  Yeboah.

President Mahama cast his vote at Bole in the Northern Region. He said whatever the outcome of the results, Ghana is the winner. First Lady Lordina Mahama cast her votes at Rangoon Primary School.

The Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur  and his wife  cast their ballot at the Accra High SHS and the Christ the King polling stations in the Korle Klottey and the La-Dadekotopon Constituencies in Accra. 

Mr. Amissah-Arthur who was optimistic of the outcome of the election praised the voting process so far. 

The Flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo voted at the Rock of Ages Polling Station at Abuakwa South Constituency. 

Nana Addo accompanied by his wife and three children exercised their franchise at exactly 10:30am. 

He called on all his supporters to be calm and go through the process peacefully. 

The running mate of the NPP presidential candidate, Dr.Mahamoud Bawumia exercised his franchise at the Kperiga Presby polling centre in the Walewale Constituency of the Northern Region. 

He was accompanied by his wife, Hajia Samiratu Bawumia, relations, party executives and  some supporters. 

Our Northern Regional correspondent Mohammed Fugu reported that, activities at the Kperiga Presby polling station came to a standstill at about 9:30am when  Dr. Bawumia arrived there to cast his vote.  

He was the 152nd  person to cast his vote, out of the 434 total registered voters. 

Dr. Bawumia expressed satisfaction about the exercise so far.

At KEEA, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom with his wife Yvonne Nduom arrived and  cast their ballot.

Ex-President John Rawlings arrived at the polling station at Klottey Korle in the company of a big crowd and cast his vote.
