Counting underway as polls close across Ghana Counting of ballots is underway after presidential and parliamentary elections ended officially across Ghana. Voting took place in about 29,000 polling stations across the country. 15,712,449 voters were expected to cast their ballots to elect the 7th President for the fourth Republic and 275 Parliamentarians. Seven Presidential candidates contested the election. They were CPP's Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings of the NDP, NDC's John Mahama, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom of the PPP, Nana Akuffo Addo of NPP, Dr. Edward Mahama of the PNC and Independent candidate Jacob Osei Yeboah.
