EC Makes Final Declaration: Nana Akufo-Addo Wins Ghana's Election

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been declared winner of the 2016 presidential election.  

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Charlotte Osei who made the declaration in Accra said Nana Akufo Addo garnered 5,716,026 votes representing 53.85%.  

Followed by the National Democratic Congress’ John Mahama with 4,713, 277 votes representing 44.40%.

Mrs. Charlotte Osei said there are still some outstanding polling station votes, but the Commission decided to declare the results because those votes will not impact on the outcome of the presidential results.

The EC boss thanked all the stakeholders and partners for peacefully executing election.  

She appreciated the Media, National Peace Council, Local and International observers for their support in the run up to the election.
