Gambia Bar Association condemns Jammeh The Gambian BAR Association has condemned the refusal by President Yahya Jammeh to hand over power to the President-elect, Adama Barrow. The BAR says the statement by Mr Jammeh on Friday December 9, 2016 rejecting the outcome of the December 1 polls contravenes provisions in the country's constitution and amounts to treason. It has, therefore, called on President Jammeh to respect the outcome of the election and immediately hand over power to the President-elect. Meanwhile West African Regional leaders and the Head of United Nations Office for West Africa, Dr Ibn Chambas, are meeting today in Banjul to press for a peaceful hand-over. Both the UN and the AU have denounced and condemned President Jammeh's rejection of the 2016 election. SOURCE: BBC NEWS
