Damba festival cancelled for security reasons

The regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya-Na Abdulai Yakubu Andani has cancelled the celebration of the 2016 Damba Festival at Yendi Township to prevent the security of the area from being compromised.

The decision was taken after a meeting with the traditional council and the Yendi Municipal Security Council yesterday.
 
In a statement signed by the Registrar, Mohammed Adam Gariba, the regent asked all chiefs and Elders in the Yendi Township to comply with the directive to protect the relative peace. 

The Regent has however directed chiefs outside Yendi to proceed with their celebration provided the peace of their areas will not be breached.
