Feature: Prospects and challenges of onshore exploration 

Ghana is expected to start exploration in the voltaian basin after the collection of seismic data is carried out. 

Although time lines have not been given for production to begin, the basin is estimated to hold a lot of potential. 

Apart from the high expectations from the industry, there are also fears of the impact production will have on the environment. 

The worry about this is that, the Voltaian basin is onshore. Onshore activities are purported to have a lot of risks compared to offshore. 

This is because a lot of natural habitations could  be destroyed to get the resource, this is in addition to environmental and social issues.
