Ban on importation of second hand clothing still in force- GSA The Public Affairs Director of The Ghana Standards Authority, Kofi Amponsah Bediako, says the ban on the importation of second hand clothing is still in force especially on used underwear, used mattresses and sanitary wear. Surprisingly, all these banned items are on the market. However, Mr. Bediako says the Authority is enforcing the law. He explained that the dealers are using every means to smuggle such items onto the market. The Acting Director in charge of Communications and Public Affairs of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Akwasi Sarpong, said even though the ban on second hand clothing is still in force, it is the Ghana Standards Authority which is the implementing body and is expected to see to its enforcement.
