Former Private Sector Minister Describes Senior Minister's Contract Comments Misplaced


Former Minister in charge of Public Private Partnership and Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo has described as misplaced a statement by Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo that some contracts signed by the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) in its last days in office were done in bad faith and morally wrong is misplaced. 

It may be recalled that, the Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo, at a roundtable on the 2017 Presidential Transition organised by IEA in Accra, said certain contracts signed by the previous government during the transition period were worrying. 

According to him, the previous government’s decision to employ people during the last days of its administration has put the new government in an uncomfortable situation. 

Adding that the government is considering reviewing some of the contracts but is mindful of the issue of judgement debt. 

However, Dr. Pelpuo in an interview with Radio Ghana explained the circumstances under which such contracts were signed. 

Dr. Pelpuo said he suspects mischief and asked the current government to stop diverting the minds of Ghanaians from the reality on the ground and face the challenges of modern day governance especially mobilizing funds to prosecute New Patriotic Party’s political manifesto.
