Agbogbloshie calm after deployment of security personnel

The Public Relations Director of the Ghana Police Service Superintendent Cephas Arthur, says Agbogbloshie is now calm following the deployment and re-enforcement of security at the place. 

He told Radio Ghana that a number of arrests have been made and called for a multi-purpose approach to deal with the Agbogbloshie disturbances once and for all.  

Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the National Commission on Small Arms, Jones Afle says the Agbogbloshie disturbances can be linked to political and economic factors. 

Mr Afle urged the security apparatus to consider declaring Agbogbloshie a security zone as advocated by the MP for the area.  

In a related development, an International Relations and security Expert, Irbard Ibrahim, has cautioned the media to be mindful of their reportage on the Agbogbloshie disturbances. 

He said the problem in Agbogloshie is as a result of economic activity and has nothing to do with ethnicity.  

Speaking on Uniiq breakfast Drive, Mr Ibrahim called on the authorities to as a matter of urgency ensure calm at Agbogbloshie. 

Mr Ibrahim said the security challenges of the country should not be attributed to political manipulation.
