IPR supports fight against galamsey

The Institute of Public Relations, Ghana, IPR, has joined the media in its fight against galamsey in the country. 

A statement signed by its President Elaine Sam said this has become necessary because of the helplessness of the Ghana Water Company and the scary possibility of the importation of water for consumption in the next decade. 

Last week major media organisations in the country including GBC launched a crusade against the menace. 

The Coalition intends to collect one million signatures from Ghanaians and individuals interested in joining the fight against illegal mining, otherwise known as “galamsey”, and forward it to the Presidency for radical action. 

The support from IPR will be a major boost to the campaign. 

Effective communication will be needed for attitudinal change, policy formulation, implementation and review processes needed to make the necessary impact. 

The IPR says the peculiar case of involvement of Chinese and other foreign nationals should be dealt with firmly with the national interest as a sole objective.
