Take precautions against weather - Meteorological Agency

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMA) on Thursday (April 13), cautioned event planners and holiday makers, to take precautions against sudden rainfall during the Easter festivities.
    
“Event Planners and holiday makers should make provisions for shelter because we are currently in the rainy season, and a sudden weather change is always likely,” Mr Michael Padi, Senior Meteorologist at the Ghana Meteorological Agency, gave the caution in an interview with the Ghana News Agency.

He also advised people attending events, not to be carried away by excitement, but act with great care and caution, whenever any threat of unfriendly weather showed.
    
Mr Padi said the current rains being experienced in the country were typified by thundering activities and storms, “which makes it very important for protective measures against bad weather”.
    
He said as much as possible, people should seek shelter in safe solid structures during rainfall, and avoid taking refuge under trees and weak structures.
    
“Whilst weak structures could get destroyed in a storm and harm people seeking shelter, trees increase the risk of lightening,” said the Senior Meteorologist.

Meanwhile, the GMA has warned that the country is expected to be hit by a rainstorm at 19 hours on Thursday.

Southern Ghana is currently experiencing its first and major rainy season.
